About David

Hi there… I’m David McGee and you’ve probably already gathered that I am a Professional Hypnotherapist.  I help clients of all ages, manage stress, control and eliminate anxiety and boost their self-confidence.

I own and manage DM Hypnotherapy and the main office and clinic, for face-to-face clients, are in Oak Lodge Business Centre (OLBC). OLBC is in the small village of Little Melton, on the outskirts of the city of Norwich (full address details at the foot of this page). There is easy parking for face-to-face clients and a small reception/waiting area should you have a partner, family member or friend accompanying you. I conduct all my Online Sessions from here too.

A little bit about my journey… After a year’s intensive study, I qualified as a Professional Hypnotherapist in 2017 and have seen clients part-time through the back end of 2017 and throughout the whole of 2018. I worked extremely hard to build a well-respected professional reputation to confidently make the leap to working full time at the start of 2019. Through the whole of 2019 I have expanded my services to include Online Sessions seeing clients from across the UK and Europe.

Previously, and for most of my career, I have worked as a Senior Engineering Manager in many local blue-chip companies (including Unilever, Silver Spoon and Anglian Windows). As you could probably imagine I have had more than my fair share of work-related stress and this for me resulted in several bouts of anxiety and extreme loss of self-confidence.

I have also experienced several life changing events including a marriage breakup which, I believe, was the main contributing factor in a severe case of depression throughout my 30’s. In my early 30’s I was medically diagnosed as being clinically depressed and prescribed Fluoxetine (an anti-depressant also known as Prozac). I was on and off antidepressants for 8 long years and at that time my anxiety levels were ‘off-the-chart’. My self-confidence and self-esteem had hit rock-bottom and I was even having regular suicidal thoughts. I couldn’t see any way out or any end to it. I had lost all hope. Then, just before my 40th birthday, I had another event that rocked my world in a very negative way. I was really struggling with who and what I was and what I was becoming. I didn’t like myself at all. A friend suggested that maybe I needed to go and see a ‘Head Doctor’ and that was my turning point. I realised then that something had to change, that it had to be me, and it had to be right then!

I went to see a Hypnotherapist and with her help over a few sessions I was able to fully recover and completely come off anti-depressants. My life had been transformed and the only reason for looking back now is to see how far I’ve come.

Some 10 years later another event torpedoed my life. My employer of 10 years, completely out of the blue, called me into the office and I was told they were ‘letting me go’! There was no reason given but… just like that… overnight… my world changed again. I see this now as a crossroads in my life where I was presented with the opportunity of embarking on the path to becoming a hypnotherapist. I really wanted to start making a difference to people’s lives. I wanted to start making the world a better place by helping people get out of emotional pain and help them positively transform their lives and becoming a Professional Hypnotherapist has enabled me to do just that. All of this seems like a lifetime ago now… and I have come so far in life… and I can genuinely say that working with a Professional Hypnotherapist has completely transformed my life. Now the time is right for me to be able to offer the same opportunity to you. To help you make the positive changes that you want to make to transform your life.

If like me, you have realised that something HAS to change, that it has to be YOU, and it has to be right NOW… then who ya gonna call?  No! Not Ghostbusters… but Norfolk & Norwich’s Premier Hypnotherapist at DM Hypnotherapy.

For your peace of mind, I am on an Accredited Register that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority. The Accredited Register programme was set up by the Government to improve standards and safety for the benefit of the public and accreditation demonstrates my commitment to high professional standards, to enhancing safety and delivering a better service.

The advice always is to choose a Professional Hypnotherapist that is Qualified, Supervised, Insured and subject to a Code of Ethics. Being registered with the General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR), the National Hypnotherapy Society (HS) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) guarantees these important factors for you.

The National Health Service specifically advises that when looking for a private hypnotherapist that you check they are registered with an organisation that’s accredited by the Professional Standards Authority such as those I mention above.

The highly respected status of Registered Hypnotherapist within The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) is considered by many as the Gold Standard within Hypnotherapy.

I would be only too pleased to answer any questions you may have.
